ABOUT

Hi there, I’m Hannah, I was born in Florida and lived there all my life until the time for university came and I decided to fly from the nest straight to London. During my short three years here I’ve made lifelong friends, explored the hidden gems of the city, and mostly worked to afford my ridiculous rent.

Soon I’ll be graduating from the University of Greenwich with a (hopefully 1st class) degree in Public Relations and Communications. Aside from stressing about essays and deadlines I like to make YouTube videos,  keep up with social media trends, and attempt to organize my life with bullet journaling.

I’m approaching the fantastically terrifying point in my life where uncertainty is all around me. While the easy option would be to go back home to the states, it would mean leaving behind the life I’ve built here and to be honest I’ve gotten a little bit too attached to McVities biscuits to leave the UK.

So that leaves me here, trying to kickstart my career in the public relations universe and find the perfect organization to do so in. (Seriously someone should make a Tinder for grad jobs)

EDUCATION

I am set to graduate with a 2:1 or 1st class degree in July of 2018 with my course finishing mid May.

EXPERIENCE

Target Ovarian Cancer, London- Communications Volunteer: 

January 2018- 

At Target Ovarian Cancer I’ve gained experience writing press releases and social media posts, contacting news desks, and working in a third sector environment. My time here has been very helpful and rewarding as I’ve gained experience using interfaces with Agility PR and have been able to help share the stories of women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. My time here is a four month work placement that I will be completing in April.

The Prince Regent, London- Front of House:

May 2017- December 2018

At the Prince Regent I was trained as a barmaid and waitress by Mitchell’s & Butler’s Ltd. During my time their I improved my customer service skills and time management skills as I was often responsible for closing and cleaning the pub to maximum standards in minimum time.

Arapina Bakery, London- Barista:

July 2016-May 2017   

I worked  as a cafe waitress/ barista/ and market stall runner. Responsibilities include setting up, cleaning, serving customers, and packing away at the end of the day. I have received some barista and food handling training as well as gained customer service skills.

 ​Arapina Bakery, London- Social Media Manager:

March 2016- June 2016

At Arapina I also worked on social media management. I was responsible for their Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and overall SEO and online presence. Once a week I meet with the company owner and planned social media posts for the week as well as updated the profiles of the social media accounts and website. As well as doing the social media, I wrote up blog posts for the company and contacted local bloggers, magazines, and websites to try and earn the bakery local exposure

Creative Play School, Fort Walton Beach, FL- Infant Teacher:

October 2014-August 2015

At the Creative Play School I was a teacher in the infant room. While working there, I cared for eight babies ages six to twelve months. Each day I changed, fed, and kept the infants on a daily routine that balanced art, play, and nap time. At the end of each day I spoke with the infant’s parents to give them a report and the opportunity to ask about their child’s day. Because I was taking care of children everyday it was important to establish a trusting relationship with them and their parents

Voluntary  Work:
Creative Play School, Fort Walton Beach, FL- Volunteer 

September 2012- December 2012:

A few years before working at the Creative Play School full time, I volunteered there as part of a high school program. While volunteering there I helped clean classrooms and prepare the children’s snacks.
